Officials say a man has been arrested after he allegedly broke into a university dorm in New York City and set three fires using matches that were supposed to be used for lighting a Hanukkah menorah.

According to New York City fire commissioner, Daniel Nigro, no one was injured by the fires set early Friday morning at a Yeshiva University dorm in Manhattan.

Peter Weyand, 33, was arrested by FDNY Fire Marshals on charges of arson and breaking into the Yeshiva University Schottenstein Residence. Weyland is accused of setting three separate fires at the dorm while other students were sleeping at around 4 a.m. on Friday.

The fires were quickly extinguished and no one was hurt. Nigo said.

Officials released surveillance video of Weyland, dressed in all black, kicking out part of a glass door to the lobby of the dorm and crawling through it. At one point, Weyland can be seen picking up the front desk's phone, until later continuing into the building.

The video does not show the fires.

Weyland pleaded guilty to burglary and arson in Manhattan Criminal court on Saturday, and was given a conditional discharge on charges of third-degree burglary and arson - both of which are felonies. If he continues to have good behavior, the charges will be dropped.

He's due back in court on January 23.
